Supermarket car park ‘stabbing’ stuns shocked shoppers

A MAN has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following an alleged stabbing outside an Ashton-under-Lyne supermarket.

The car park of Aldi, on Dean Street, has been the scene of forensic investigations after an incident on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 7.

So far no-one has yet been arrested following the disturbing scenes, which are believed to have unfolded in front of stunned shoppers.

Four scenes are in place – including at Aldi and Warrington Street in Ashton and one in the Limeside area of Oldham – as Greater Manchester Police attempts to track down the supposed perpetrator.

And while a teenager is believed to be in Tameside Hospital following the incident, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A cordon around the scene was lifted just after 6pm.

The force said in a statement: “At 2.10pm, Greater Manchester Police received reports that a male had been stabbed on Dean Street, Ashton-under-Lyne.

“An 18-year-old male has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, but they are thankfully not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

“No arrests have been made at this time. Four scenes are in place and an investigation is underway.”
