MOSSLEY has received another hammer blow to its business community after a chemist was seized by bailiffs.
The branch of McKeevers, on Stamford Street in Top Mossley, has been closed and forfeiture notices placed on it.
Staff members caught up in the fallout were stood close to the building, which stands next to George Lawton Hall, but were unable to shed light on why it had happened.
The signs state: “These premises have today been seized on the authority of the landlord. Notice is hereby served and forfeiture of the lease effected.”
This action comes on the back of the Post Office’s decision to close the facility on Manchester Road in Bottom Mossley.
That will leave the area without one after the branch close to McKeevers closed last March.
The Pike Practice advised its patients by saying: “Please be aware McKeevers Chemist is closed due to unforeseen circumstances.
“We have had no further correspondence relating to a timeframe of when they will re-open.
“If you are due to collect your prescription from McKeevers, please come to the practice or telephone the reception team to re-request your prescription to be sent to a different pharmacy on this occasion.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.”
McKeevers also owns the Chadwick and Hadfield pharmacy on Manchester Road in Bottom Mossley. The Correspondent has approached the company for comment.
