PUPILS at a primary school in Audenshaw are top of the class when it comes to their times tables.
And they now have a letter from the Government to prove it!
St Anne’s Primary were delighted to receive a letter from the Schools Minister confirming that the school is among the top 200 performing schools in England for the multiplication tables check.
Youngsters at the Clarendon Road school averaged a score of 25 out of a possible 25 in 2023.
The multiplication tables check was made compulsory in primary schools from 2022 to help ensure children aged eight to nine know their times tables up to 12 off by heart, and as a tool for teachers to identify pupils who need extra support.
In the letter addressed to St Anne’s head teacher Alicia Duffy, MP Damian Hinds wrote: “The excellent achievement of your pupils is something the Government hopes to see replicated in schools across the country.”
He went on to say: “I would like to both congratulate your staff and pupils for their hard work and to thank you for your leadership in continuing to promote the important subject of mathematics.”
Sharing the news on X, formerly Twitter, the school said: “Very proud opening the post this morning! Well done to all the children and staff on this incredible achievement!”
