A RAIL worker from Droylsden has grown to new heights after raising money for the family of a tragic colleague.
Scott Jarvis collected more than £1,000 for Dominic Johns’ children after their father died earlier this year.
The man known as Dom, a Driver Manager for TransPennine Express (TPE) based at Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street, died in March.
And as his kids approached their first Christmas without their beloved dad, the 56-year-old helped them by growing a moustache during Movember.
Scott said: “This year, I took part in Movember in honour of Dom who passed away earlier this year, leaving behind two young sons.

“I wanted to raise money to support and surprise his children so that they can have some fun, especially since its their first Christmas without him.”
Scott shared his fundraising efforts across the TPE network, where his colleagues donated and left words of encouragement for Scott and Dominic’s family.
Scott added: “Dom was a great guy.
“As soon as you met him, he would make you feel like a friend. He lived life to the fullest and gave everything 100 per cent, whether it was work or pleasure.
“Dom was there for me for the four years we worked together, and I feel like this is the least I can do to thank him and support his family.”
Scott will keep his Just Giving page open until February to continue supporting Dominic’s family into the new year and throughout January.
Dom’s mother, Joan Potts, said: “I would like to thank Scott and everybody at TPE so much for their wonderful fundraising for my grandsons this Christmas.
“We miss Dominic dearly, and I’m sure he would be appreciative of everybody’s efforts – and very impressed by Scott’s moustache.”
