Major Stalybridge road closed after ‘chimney fall’

EMERGENCY services have closed a major Stalybridge road following reports of a ‘fallen chimney’.

Crews were called to the property on Mottram Road on Friday, December 29 and have implemented a cordon preventing vehicles and pedestrians from entering the area.

Pictures from the scene show officers from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service using equipment to assess the damage. The Correspondent understand there are no reported injuries at this stage.

This comes following a confirmed T5 tornado which tore through Stalybridge on Wednesday, December 27 causing significant damage to more than 100 homes in the area.
