AN Ashton-under-Lyne based solicitors have raised more than £300 to help care leavers have an enjoyable Christmas.
Bromleys Solicitors ran a hamper raffle on December 18, with proceeds going towards the Tameside Care Leavers Christmas Lunch, which took place on December 21.
The money raised helped to create a wonderful festive themed room at the Broadoak Community Centre along with a delicious meal. Each of the young people who attended received individual gifts and advent calendars.
Event organisers, Neil Radford from Staying Close-Partnership and Engagement Officer and Rick Morris, Project Manager at Tameside MBC, said: “Bromleys’ very kind donation has contributed to providing a generous selection of Christmas gifts and a Christmas meal for more than 50 care leavers.
“The Christmas meal is a staple on the care leavers’ calendar. It is both well attended and really enjoyed by all and the room is well decorated and the food magnificent. This donation has given the young people a time to be able to relax in what can be a challenging time of year for many. We are extremely grateful for all the support given.”
The generous act will help to make a positive difference to young people’s lives within the community. There are approximately 400 young people needing support, especially at such an emotionally challenging time this Christmas.
