Travellers’ camp set up on site of Mossley firm

POLICE are in attendance after travellers set up on the site of a Mossley firm.

R Plevin and Sons, on Cheshire Street, is now the scene of activity following reports of an encampment being created.

It is believed Tameside Council officials will also be involved in any action to remove them.

Wood recycling company R Plevin and Son has placed a wagon across one of the access points to the site.

And negotiations are now taking place over the removal of the vehicles, which arrived on Thursday, December 14.

  1. We’re all travellers at the end of the day! If each local council spent some of their money (which is wasted on stupid things) on proper sites for these people, so they can move around freely, then they wouldn’t ‘they need to go somewhere! Its the same old NIMBY scenario, let them be someone else problem. The police can only keep the peace, it’s not their job to remove them…
