CURZON Ashton have been rewarded with a home tie against Macclesfield FC in the third round of the FA Trophy.
The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, December 9 at the Tameside Stadium.
Interim manager Craig Mahon has guided the squad to four successive victories in all competitions – including Saturday’s 2-0 win against Matlock Town in the second round of the competition at the Tameside Stadium.
Any lingering nerves were settled in the fourth minute thanks to Stefan Mols’ strike, before Will Hayhurst wrapped things up deep into second half injury from the penalty spot.
In beating the Gladiators, Curzon pocketed £3,750 in prize funds and will receive an additional £4,500 if they manage to overcome The Silkmen. However, if Curzon lose the tie they will still pick up £1250.
Macclesfield are currently managed by former Premier League player Alex Bruce – son of ex-Newcastle United manager Steve – and are currently fifth in the Northern Premier League, Premier Division.
The Nash will be hoping to continue their fine form on Tuesday night when they return to league action at South Shields in the National League North.
Curzon are currently positioned just inside the playoffs on goal difference while the hosts, who are a full-time outfit under former Sunderland player Julio Arcer, are second in the table and trail leaders Tamworth on goal difference.
