MOSSLEY Hollins High School held a very special ceremony in tribute to one of its former students.
Pupils, teachers and dignitaries, including the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Taf Sharif, gathered ahead of Armistice and Remembrance to pay tribute to Corporal Joseph Etchells.
Joey, 22, died following a roadside explosion while on foot patrol in Sangin, in northern Helmand province in 2009.
He was serving with the 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and was the 186th British serviceman to die in Afghanistan.
After the playing of the Last Post, a two-minute silence was impeccably observed.
