THERE is plenty planned to spread some Christmas cheer in Haughton Green this year.
The village’s lights switch on will take place on Thursday, November 23, on Tommy Todd Village Green on Haughton Green Road.
The lights will be switched on at 7pm, but there will also be the opportunity to meet Santa (for £2 which includes a gift), hear some Christmas carols and drink mulled wine.
If that’s not enough to get you in the festive spirit, the community group Magical Memories has organised a Christmas Market Fair on Friday, December 8.
Between 4pm and 8pm, the Oasis Community Centre on Tatton Road will be a warm place to gather and mingle.
You’ll be able to browse festive market stalls and support small local businesses, as well as the Tameside Toy Appeal.
Children will be able to receive a gift from Santa at his grotto, and write and post their Christmas wish lists.
There will be festive music and a school carol service, as well as the usual raffles, tombola and refreshments.
Entry will be free and everyone is welcome.
