LEST WE FORGET – Remembrance 2023 plans across Tameside

OVER the weekend of November 11 and 12, Tameside’s towns, villages and communities will again be holding services and ceremonies to remember those who fell in the two world wars and many other conflicts.

The Civic Mayor, Cllr Tafheen Sharif, said: “During the 20th century British forces, which included troops from the whole Commonwealth – from Canada and the West Indies to Asia and the Pacific – twice answered the call to defend freedom.

Remembrance at Mossley

“Even though it will soon be 100 years since the Second World War began it is only right that we continue to recognise their sacrifice and honour those who defend us in these very troubled times when war has returned to Europe.

“I urge residents to attend the special ceremonies across our borough and to pay their respects to our brave servicemen and women, of all colours and backgrounds, both past and present.”
