Celebrating 13 years of Home Estate Agents

HOME Estate Agents has hit the fortunate milestone of 13 years in the Estate Agency business, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down.

Situated on Huddersfield Road in Stalybridge, this leading Estate Agent has stayed ahead of the curve thanks to its strong local expertise and experience.

The journey from its inception in 2010, amidst the challenges of a post-global financial crisis, has been nothing short of remarkable.

Readers of the Correspondent are likely familiar with Home’s popular “Property of the Week” features.

We recently caught up with founder John Grantham, who, with 20 years in property after a background in sales, shared the story of Home Estate Agents’ beginnings.

In John’s words, “We’d just had twins in May 2008, taking it to five children 4 and under. I initially went part-time at my previous job for three months, to help my wife. But then the market crashed, and I found myself with five children to support, a hefty mortgage and a part time job. With my back against the wall, a brave friend lent me the money to set up my own agency and I had no choice but to make to make it work.”

The housing market slowly recovered over the next decade but then experienced a well-documented boom after the COVID-19 pandemic. It has also since grappled with instability due to rising interest rates. Like its competitors, Home Estate Agents had to adapt.

John emphasized the importance of having the right team, putting in hard work and focusing on maintaining a high level of service.

John’s philosophy is clear: “We’ve spared no expense in showcasing properties, and that’s made a significant difference. We’ve adapted and changed, and we’re still selling hundreds more properties on average than our nearest competitor’s year on year and have held the top-selling agent title for nine years running.”

Despite its modest beginnings in a box bedroom in Dukinfield and the challenges along the way, Home Estate Agents continues to thrive, providing professional service and staying at the forefront of the marketing.

Over the past 13 years, there have been many highlights for Home Estate Agents. One memorable moment was an April Fool’s Day prank that unexpectedly generated property inquiries.

With the interest rates levelling off and the mortgage rates coming down, Home Estate Agents are confidently looking to future growth.
