A PUB in Ashton-under-Lyne is celebrating after receiving prestigious recognition for the quality of its real ale.
The Ash Tree on Wellington Road has been listed in the Good Beer Guide for 2024 by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) – the UK’s best-selling beer and pub guide.
Local branch members of CAMRA chose the Wetherspoon pub after making visits regularly to check on the quality of real ales on offer.
Customer service, overall atmosphere and décor were also taken into account.
Carl Lynch-Rigg, manager of The Ash Tree, has expressed his delight in the acclamation.
He said: “We offer our customers an excellent range of real ales at all times, including those from regional brewers and microbrewers, as well as hosting our own beer festivals.
“Staff at the pub work hard to ensure that the real ales on offer are kept in first-class condition at all times and the pub’s inclusion in the guide highlights this.”
A spokesperson for CAMRA commented: “The Ash Tree deserves its place in the Good Beer Guide 2024.
“It is our belief that if a licensee serves an excellent pint of real ale, then everything else in the pub, including customer service, quality of food and atmosphere, are likely to be of an equally high standard.”
The Ashtree is not a good Wetherspoon pub. The beer is generally bog standard and more often than not the lines are being cleaned and beer is not available. The pub has a reputation and history for staff ganging up on customers who express dissatisfaction with poor service. The customer is always wrong in this establishment.
