ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE’S football teams have been handed differing Midlands tasks if they are to make the first round proper of the FA Cup.
Curzon Ashton will host Tamworth, who sit four points above them at the top of National League North, after they were paired together in the draw on Monday, October 2.
National Park is no stranger to cup drama, having seen an Adam Morgan hat-trick put them 3-0 ahead against AFC Wimbledon before four goals in the final 10 minutes produced a complete turnaround in front of nationwide TV cameras.
And last year saw a goalless draw with Cambridge United before they took the replay all the way to penalties.
Near neighbours Ashton United will have to travel down the M6 after being drawn away at Kidderminster Harriers.
Steve Cunningham’s side would have to overcome a 30-place difference in the non-league pyramid as the Robins currently sit fifth in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, while their opponents are bottom of the National League.
However, after winning 2-0 at Lancaster in the third qualifying round and defeating Atherton Collieries 3-1 on the road in a replay, having to do it away from Hurst Cross is nothing new.
Ties will be played on the weekend of Saturday, October 14.
