Mayor joins in charity cycle in Ashton

THE CIVIC Mayor of Tameside braved the elements to get on her bike and help raise funds for a local charity.

The Ashton branch of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (UK) organised a Sewa Cycle event at the Tameside Cycle Circuit in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Sewa in Hinduism is the concept of selfless service – one of the key values HSS (UK) aspires to instil in its members through their more than 100 branches across the country.

It was organised to raise vital funds and awareness for The Anthony Seddon Fund, the Ashton-based charity that supports those affected by mental health issues and their families and friends.

There were 40 participants, young and old, including local councillor Vimal Choksi and Civic Mayor Cllr Tafheen Sharif.

They all saddled up amid some awful weather to take to the cycle circuit off Richmond Street, where there was a lovely family environment.
