A MUSICIAN who has played at the world-renowned Glastonbury Festival every year since 2007 is coming to Tameside for a special intimate gig.
Beans on Toast, a.k.a. Jay McAllister, is an Essex-born folk singer and songwriter, who has toured with the likes of Frank Turner, Kate Nash and Skinny Lister.
The 42-year-old’s first album in 2009 was a 50-track epic called Standing On A Chair, produced by Ben Lovett from Mumford & Sons and featured guest vocals by, amongst others, Emmy The Great and Frank Turner.
‘Beans’ has continued to release an album every year on the first day of December, which coincides with his birthday.
That will be no different this year when his 16th studio album called The Toothpaste and The Tube will be made public.
The following day (Saturday, December 2) he will perform at The Vale – the arts centre, theatre and live music venue on Micklehurst Road in Mossley.
Doors will open at 7.30pm and tickets, priced at £16.50 each, can be bought online at https://www.the-vale.co.uk/event/beans-on-toast/
Beans is returning to the UK this winter after a US tour which includes dates in Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, New York and Miami.
Johnny Clifford, programming manager at The Vale, said: “Beans on Toast is a critically acclaimed and well loved artist with scores of devoted fans.
“Like a modern-day minstrel, captivating hearts and minds with his tales of love, politics and the human experience, Beans is unafraid to challenge the status quo with his irreverent wit and soul-stirring lyricism.
“We will be honoured to welcome to The Vale the day after the release of his 16th studio album and are all looking forward to what is bound to be a stunning performance.”
