A NEW café has added something Plus to Denton’s town centre and hundreds of people have already flocked to it.
Café Plus has set up in the former Crown Point pub, which was known under various titles – The Crown Point, Last Orders and the George Kirkpatrick.
After it closed in 2020, the change of use has breathed new life into the prominent structure.
Offering food with a Turkish twist, people can get their breakfast with sausage from the nation or Menemen, a vegetarian mix on a baguette.
Later in the day, it specialises in burgers and wraps, while fans of waffles can also have their desires fulfilled.
And so far, the results have even surprised owner Karim Ahmad, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry.
He said: “People have been queuing.
“I thought people would come in on the first day, maybe 45-55. Over 200 people came in.
“The day after, I thought maybe another 200 would come. It was more than 300!
“I bought the building and when I did, I applied to put flats in upstairs, then I started thinking about what to do downstairs.
“Some people said I should open it as a café, others said many different things. I decided, though, to do something like this.
“I checked the area and there wasn’t really anything like this. There are a few local coffee shops but this is something a bit more.
“And Denton is also slowly growing.”
