Mossley AFC bring in new coaches

DAVID Fish believes Mossley AFC are better placed to push for promotion after bringing in two new coaches.

Jonny Kyle and Phil McGrath have moved to Seel Park as goalkeeping coach and first team coach respectively.

And manager Fish hopes the new men on his backroom staff can help the Lilywhites towards the top of the Northern Premier League West Division.

He said: “They’ll bring new energy and ideas to the management team, which will benefit us all.

“I feel we now have the team on and off the pitch to improve on last season.”

After making a number of new signings, as well as several re-signings, Fish turned bis attention away from the pitch.

Bury-based Kyle, 31, is currently a BTEC Sports Tutor and coach and was previously a goalkeeper coach at Lancashire North West Counties outfit Padiham FC.

McGrath, 31, previously represented Oldham Athletic as a player and accumulated plenty of coaching experience in the academies at both the Latics and Stockport County, as well as being first team coach at recently-promoted North West Counties Premier Division side Chadderton.

Fish added to the club: “To improve on last season’s finish, we need the right team on and off the pitch and these additions are as important as any of the players we’ve brought in.

“We had a number of good candidates apply and interview for the goalkeeping coach role, Jonny’s impressive track record and enthusiasm to continue to develop and learn all shone through during his interview.

“He also has the personality and commitment to fit in well with the whole management team.

“Last season I made the decision to not replace James Stokes, having reflected I felt that we missed an additional voice on the training ground to provide variety, allow a focus on individuals, and to give more challenge within the management team.

“I therefore approached Phil, who is an experienced coach, to join the team. Having played at a good level and coached across academies and in non-league, he will bring new perspectives, deliver high quality sessions and support the development of our players.

“I’m looking forward to working with Jonny and Phil as part of the management team and to seeing the impact they’ll both have.”
