AN ASHTON man is facing charges relating to thousands of cigarettes and kilograms of tobacco that did not comply with UK regulations.
Faraj Hameed, of Stanhope Street, will appear at Tameside Magistrates Court in August accused of breaking the Standardised Packaging of Tobacco Products Regulations.
It is alleged that on September 19, 2020 at Dilan Market on Hollins Road on Oldham, he either produced or supplied 9,500 cigarettes that did not comply with the requirements as the packaging was not in the prescribed colour.
He also faces a similar charge relating to 3.05kg of rolling tobacco at the premises.
At a hearing on Monday, June 5, the case brought by Oldham Council was adjourned until August 10, when Hameed, a director of Dilan European Shop Ltd, will appear again at Tameside Magistrates Court.
