THE sweet sound of brass music is still ringing through the air after another amazing Whit Friday Brass Band Competition.
Bands from all over the country, and beyond, showed off their skill as thousands of people took advantage of the fine weather to attend.

At one stage, coaches queued along the street as bands waited to take the stage as the ‘greatest free show on Earth’ did not disappoint.
Mossley’s contest, which saw a packed Seel Park with food stalls and other outlets adding to the enjoyment, saw the biggest prize money of the day in the area.
That resulted in 41 bands playing on a specially-erected stage on the pitch, in front of the main stand, the most of any Tameside contest.
And Foden’s claimed the newly-created Paul Harrison Trophy – named after the late club volunteer who organised the contest for more than 30 years.
There were also brass versions of some familiar tunes as bands marched to their performance – HD9 Community’s rendition of ABBA’s Super Trooper, complete with people in 1970s fancy dress, was a particular crowd pleaser at Carrbrook.
Foden’s also took the overall title, and the £2,000 prize money, after also claiming victory in seven contests.
