FROM Thursday, June 1, there will be no need to swap around your phone whenever you want to do some e-reading. All the publications will be available in one place – the new BorrowBox app.
ePress will be the gateway to all your e-reading content. So whether you use the app or read online, there will be one log-in, one site and one app for you to find thousands of free e-magazines and e-newspapers as well as e-books and e-audiobooks.
If you already have the BorrowBox app you don’t need to do anything as all your digital content will appear in the same place.
However, if you don’t have the app, it’s quick and easy to download from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Once you’ve done so, within five minutes you’ll be able to browse, read, search and subscribe to your favourite titles for free so that you’ll never miss the latest issue.

Cllr Sangita Patel, Tameside Council’s assistant executive member for heritage, culture and digital inclusivity, said: “Always popular, our free e-publications services saw a huge rise in demand during the lockdowns when libraries were closed.
“Now, thanks to ePress and the new BorrowBox app, the service has got even better as everything is available in one place. The app is very easy and quick to download and I would fully recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading, whether that’s books, magazines, newspapers or e-books.”
The BorrowBox downloading service is a product of Tameside Libraries’ partnership with its nine Greater Manchester counterparts.
It allows you to reserve items and receive them automatically when they are available or use the reading list facility to keep a note of any you would like in the future. You are also able to change the font, size and background colours in e-books to suit your preference or accessibility needs. You can also control the playback speed of e-audiobooks.
To borrow e-books and e-audiobooks you need to be a member of Tameside Libraries. If you are not, pop in to your local library or visit www.tameside.gov.uk/libraries
