POLICE have told people concerned after spotting a cordon and forensics tent in Ashton there is nothing to be worried about.
A presence was seen in an area close to Knott Hill reservoir, across a path leading from Greenhurst Lane on Sunday, March 26, close to the town’s golf club.
But when contacted by The Correspondent, the Greater Manchester force insisted it was not because of a new or recent crime in the vicinity.
It said in a statement: “Police were in attendance at an area of land close to The Clough in Ashton on March 26. This was in relation to an ongoing search.
“There was no threat to members of the public and this was not an ongoing police incident.”
