DO YOU know someone who could fill the role of Carnival Queen? If so, organisers in Stalybridge want to hear from you.
A key component of the annual festival is the crowning in the town’s Cheetham Park following the parade through its centre.
And the committee organising the event, which this year is on Sunday, June 25, is seeking applications for following categories:
Petal – aged three to five-years-old
Rosebud- aged five to eight
Princess – aged eight to 10
Junior Queen – aged 10 to 14
Queen – aged 14+
Joyce Hobson, president of Stalybridge Festival Committee, said: “Our Carnival Queens take a prominent position in the parade as it winds its way around the town centre.
“They are seen by more than 5,000 visitors lining the route as well as being formally crowned in Cheetham Park after it.
“This year, we are very keen to seek nominations for each of the Carnival Queen categories particularly as this has been seen as being an important element of the carnival – which is now in its 47th year.”
The deadline for applications is Friday, April 7 and further information is available from Joyce, who ca be contacted by calling 0161 303 7087.
