Liam Tongue’s goal proved pivotal in a 3-2 win at Guiseley after Jack Redshaw and Will Russ found the net.
But it was the reaction to the opposition’s physical game that pleased the manager the most.

Spooner told the club: “It was a very difficult game. Their players were kicking the hell out of our players but I said to my players how pleased I was with their discipline.
“They didn’t lose their heads. I’m really proud of them. It was a big worry they’d get sucked into it. I’m really proud no player retaliated.
“But it was very nervy at the end!”
Mossley boss David Fish admitted his side ‘won ugly’ as they came out on top 2-1 against Hanley Town in their West Division match, which saw opposition goalkeeper Kieran Harrison sent off.

Mason Fawns’ penalty – his 15th gal of the season – after Jack Banister’s early opener proved decisive and the forward said: “We’ve a good atmosphere in the changing room. A play-off place is in our hands and it’s always good to chip in and help out.
“I’ve stepped up to being one of the main men at the club. Everyone knows what I’m about now and at the moment, I’m just loving my football.”
Curzon Ashton continued Tameside’s good weekend by thrashing Farsley Celtic 5-2 in National League North.
Coach Jack Salkeld said: “We played really well. We controlled the game, we changed the system and the lads stuck to it. It paid off.”
Only Ashton United did not take three points by drawing 1-1 at Marine.
But assistant boss Nigel Keogh knew where it went awry, saying: “Ultimately, we’d take a point. We came under a lot of pressure from our own mistakes. However, we kept going.”
Denton Town won 2-1 at Knutsford in the Cheshire League’s JA Walton Challenge Cup.
