A STORE at Hyde’s Clarendon Square shopping centre will be turned into a restaurant under planning proposals.
Abdul Karim wants to turn the unit, which is currently available to lease, into a two-floor eatery with tables on both floors under a scheme submitted to Tameside Council.
His plan would see four jobs – two full-time and two part-time – created if the authority gives the go ahead.

If allowed, it is hoped the unit would open from 8am until 10pm seven days a week.
But the council has already stated it wants no equipment can be brought in until part of it detailing alterations to the extraction system, which would make sure emissions are dispersed, and the effective deodorising and degreasing of the property have been implemented in full.
Hyde is the focus of a scheme to rejuvenate its high streets, with fashion designer Wayne Hemingway is one of the people leading the way.
And the public will be able to give its views on what he and planning experts GL Hearn want to see happen early this year.
Hemingway, who found fame with his Red or Dead label, has been appointed by Tameside Council to lead the development of an exciting new vision, masterplan and strategy for the area, which has been the source of much criticism in recent years.
The authority said: “They will provide a welcome boost to the ambition to regenerate Hyde town centre.
“Helping to make it a great place to live, work and visit which meet the needs of current and future generations.
“Hyde plays a significant role in Tameside’s Inclusive Growth Strategy, it was named as one of 70 towns across the country to take part in the Government’s High Street Task Force programme and is part of the Hyde Triangle alongside, Godley Green and Hattersley, which has been identified as one of the Greater Manchester Growth locations and a great opportunity to regenerate the area.”
We need shoe shops, DIY shops, mens clothing shops. Improve the outdoor and indoor markets. Don’t get rid of anymore banks. We also need sports shops so we don’t have to travel to Ashton or Stockport to get what we need. Make Hyde more appealing so people will want to go there. A lot of people who I know say that Hyde is rubbish. It used be really good in the 1980s. Lots of people go to Ashton or Stockport instead because you get a lot more choice of things that you want. I hope that my comments help a lot. Many thanks. Mr Richard Graziano.
