AN ASHTON restaurant has left customers either having to move Christmas parties or not have one at all after it closed in mysterious circumstances.
Antonio’s, on Katherine Street, has announced it will be shut ‘for the foreseeable future’ and its gates are locked.
Coming less than a month before December 25, it is likely a number of bookings will no longer be fulfilled.
And the decision is thought to have taken Tameside Council staff by surprise.
Describing itself as bringing, ‘the authentic food and wines of Italy to one of the finest Italian restaurants in Manchester,’ the sudden closure, even if it is temporary, is a blow.
Antonio’s took its name in 2019 after previously opening under the Puccini banner.
However, in a statement, it explained: “We are the same company, however as we are no longer connected with Puccini Swinton we decided to change our name.”
A real shame – always had a great time here.
Never had a good meal there
Very embarrassing for me as an Italian to see this restaurant to serve Italian food.
Not sure why it lasted so long to be closed permanently
Most ridiculous comment ever gio I bet you’re from one of them poor places in the city centre ! Jealously is a wasted emotion
