PEOPLE living at a Millbrook residential home got a welcome blast of sea air as they enjoyed a visit to Blackpool.
Eleven residents at Oakwood Care Centre joined staff and some family members on the trip to see the Lancashire resort’s famed illuminations.
And they also enjoyed those other seaside staples – fish and chips and donuts!
Oakwood paid for a bus, which was kindly supplied at a discounted rate by Orion Travel Coaches, and the effect of heading out could not be downplayed.
One of the residents said: “This brings back so many memories.” Care assistant Kirsty Jones described all 11 as ‘overjoyed.’
She added: “The driver, Leigh Mitchell – who is the manager of Orion Travel, was absolutely brilliant with the residents.
“They all loved the coach journey and Leigh’s people skills.”
And the success of this trip out has sparked an idea at the Huddersfield Road centre.
For they are planning another trip in the summer to Southport.
