GROUPS and people who go above and beyond for the good of their community have been recognised by MP Andrew Gwynne.
The Denton and Reddish politician has given out more of his Citizens Awards in his Tameside home town.
Volunteers at Haughton Green’s Bread and Butter Thing hub were thanked for their tireless work and commitment.

The national charity has benefitted people in the area after setting up a hub at the Haughton Green Centre on Tatton Road.
And after seeing the difference it is making, reducing food waste, while at the same time ensuring surplus food goes to the people who need it at affordable prices, Mr Gwynne could ne resist.
He said: “The work The Bread and Butter Thing carries out is magnificent. However it would not happen without the local volunteers on the ground packing and distributing the food.
“The volunteers at the Haughton Green hub are second to none, and it was wonderful to take some time out to thank them for their work.”

An individual award was also given out to Joan Emery, who was nominated by members of the public for her dedication to the Whit Friday Band Contest,
She, her husband Bill and other volunteers, have helped to run for almost four decades.
After 38 years managing the Denton Contest at Denton Cricket Club, Joan is retiring and the Cricket Club will be managing the event themselves in the future.
However, Joan is still going to be on hand to advise the club on everything it needs to do.
Mr Gwynne added: “It’s been my pleasure to drop in to see Joan with Councillor Allison Gwynne.
The Whit Friday Band Contest is a brilliant event which sees bands from all over the North of England and further afield competing at Denton and several other Tameside venues.
“Dubbed as the best free show on earth, we’ve a lot to thank Joan for. It’s a very well deserved award. Well done and thank you, Joan!”
