Tameside Council to hold second Cost of Living Support Event

TAMESIDE Council will host its second ‘Helping Hand – Cost of Living Support’ event on Tuesday, September 20, 10am-1pm at Tameside One in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Helping Hand Tameside provides access to a variety of services including support organisations who can help with finances, debt, housing, food, employment, mental health and wellbeing.

The event will further extend out to Ashton Market Ground where our Community Champions will be based alongside local health and wellbeing services such as Be Well Tameside, Health Watch Tameside and Age UK. There will also be the opportunity to see virtual cycling demonstrations, healthy smoothie demonstrations and discussion around Active travel.

The Bread and Butter Thing and Healthy Start information will also be available.

As well as receiving advice and support on the day, appointments for services can also be booked for any further information and guidance that is needed.

Councillor Jacqueline North, First Deputy (Finance, Resources and Transformation) said: “Most residents are concerned about the cost of living this coming winter and beyond, so I am very pleased that the Council and our partners are putting on another Helping Hand support event next Tuesday 20th September.

“I urge anyone who has worries or concerns about making ends meet to come along to the event and find out if there is financial or other help or advice available to them.”

If you would like to support Helping Hand Tameside in your organisation or business by distributing posters, pamphlets or business cards please contact communications@tameside.gov.uk . Accessible formats are also available on request.
