PUPILS and staff at Dukinfield’s All Saints Catholic College are ecstatic at the class of 2022’s achievements in their GCSEs.
An improved set of results from 2019 – the last year actual exams were sat before the Covid-19 pandemic – has seen 73 per cent of children achieve a pass in English and 70 per cent in maths, with 62 per cent achieving one in both.

Notable achievers include deputy head girl Katy Hallas, of Stalybridge, who picked up five grade nines and four grade eights.
Twins Brandon and Brianna Whendero, from Hyde, received a great set of results watched by tearful mother Diana.
While Dukinfield’s Jacob Marshall is going on to study for a BTEC in Aviation Operation at Trafford College to further his dreams of becoming a pilot.
Others with beaming smiles after they opened their results envelopes include Zaara Karim, Shelby Kurucz and Maya Patel.
All Saints Catholic College said these results: “Follow the most challenging period in the school’s history and a set of challenges that really tested the resilience and mettle of our pupils.

‘We are so proud of what our young people have achieved and feel that these results are a true testament to their hard work and determination.
‘Overall, we couldn’t be happier for the young people and think that these results rightfully reflect their hard work as well as the commitment of the school to make sure we achieve the school mantra of Be inspired. Be excellent. Succeed.”
And headteacher Gus Diamond added: “For this cohort of young people, this is a significant set of results.
“They have had a lot of disruption due to the pandemic and have really faced an uphill struggle to get to this point.
“What impressed me was their own commitment to succeed. This group of wonderful young people came back in September 2021 determined to do this. Determined to get the results they wanted, and determined to get the futures they deserve.
“They were not going to let the impact of Covid, impact on the rest of their lives. Their resilience and determination were, and truly is, impressive and inspirational and we wish them all the very best of luck in their futures.
“I would also like to commend the entire staff team at All Saints. We truly are a family, committed to making sure we give a great education to our young people. All the hard work has been worth it.”
