YOUNGSTERS in Dane Bank have been getting on the tiles – but this is not a sign of the going off then rails.
For their brilliant artwork has been immortalised in a new mosaic showing the area’s history and what is has to offer.
A bee wearing a hat, symbolising the industry that made Denton famous, forms part of the centrepiece that now sits on the side of Denton West End Community Library.
Also included are a football – for West End JFC, a cricket ball – for Denton West CC – and a horse, designating the nearby Horses’ Field.
MP Andrew Gwynne unveiled the mosaic at the Community Festival on Saturday, June 25, which saw hundreds of locals lap up what was on offer.
Children lapped up performances of Fables at the Kitchen Table from the Stute Theatre, while stories of Dane Bank were collected with a view to a later piece of work.
Denton Brass Band played on the library’s lawn while children took part in colouring and mask making.
And the area around the Windsor Road building also sports many additions after yarn bombers made their mark on trees and signs.
