Ayden is weightlifting golden boy

SCHOOLBOY weightlifter Ayden Davies struck gold at the English Age Group Championships in Birmingham.

The pupil at Rayner Stephens High School, Dukinfield, was victorious in his age category and was named weightlifter of the day for the Under-12s.

And the 12-year-old Dukinfield boy’s latest success came six months after he also won gold at the British Age Group Championships in Harrogate.

Ayden, who is trained at the Triple X Performance Centre, Copley Mill, Stalybridge, by George Travis, began weightlifting aged nine.“Ayden tried various sports but when it came to weightlifting, he absolutely loved it,” explained mum Gemma.

Eddie Hall, a former winner of the world’s strongest man, is Ayden’s idol and he would like to take part in those events when he gets older.
