Luce is left Starstruck

A CARRBROOK woman is ready to leave the country Starstruck by appearing on the ITV talent show.

Lucy Gill will perform in front of celebrity judges Beverley Knight, Adam Lambert, Jason Manford and Sheridan Smith, as well as host Olly Murs, on the episode on Saturday, March 26.

And the 30-year-old single mum, who is a performer and dance teacher at performing arts school Harts, with more than 25 years’ experience in dance and singing, cannot wait to show off what she can do.

Lucy, who is known as performer ‘JustLuce’, said: “This is the biggest thing I’ve ever done and I cannot wait to see it all come together.

“I’m nervous but so excited. I’m super proud of myself and my little girl, Aaliyah, was my biggest motivation. She can’t wait to see mummy and herself on the TV.

“We had to work so hard for months mastering our artists vocal sound and mannerisms to make sure we portrayed them really well.

“It was difficult as my artist has a very distinct voice but lots of fun.”

Lucy cannot reveal who she performs as on the show, which sees members of the public pass themselves off as stars, as it is shrouded in secrecy.

But this was the results of months of auditioning – the first in October 2020 over Zoom after all of her performance work had been put on hold.

Lucy added: “There were three rounds of auditions, one over Zoom and then workshops in London that I had to attend, which was such an amazing experience.

“With everything stopping during the pandemic it was a really tough time for performers like myself, we lost all our work and income, it wasn’t easy so I was really happy that I would get the chance to perform again, I knew I had to do it.

“It was an absolute honour to perform for some of the industry’s greats. I never imagined after all my years of training and performing to such small audiences, that I would actually end up on national TV. it’s a dream come true!

“I’ve never really had the confidence to step out and do something so big but I’m so glad I did. I’ll never forget the day I got the phone call to say I’d made it to the live heats.”

Starstruck sees four teams of three people who take off a famous artist appear on the show and battle it out each week for a chance to win £50,000.

But until her transformation is revealed to the nation, Lucy’s lips are sealed.

“I cannot tell you who I transform into but I have been a huge fan of this singer for as long as I can remember,” she hinted.

“The show was so incredibly fun to film and it’s definitely made me want to do more now I know I can do it!

“I feel very blessed to have been chosen out of thousands and seeing myself on TV is going to be such an amazing feeling.”
