Celtic’s ‘exciting’ plans for future

STALYBRIDGE Celtic have had early but productive discussions with Tameside Council about Bower Fold becoming a community hub.

Celtic have long wanted to develop their facilities including putting down an artificial pitch which can be used 24/7 by the community as well as bringing in revenue for the club.

The matter was raised at the Stalybridge Advisory Group where Tameside Council chief executive officer Steven Pleasant told members: “The Leader (Cllr Brenda Warrington) and I had a great conversation with Rob Gorski about working with him and Tameside College around the potential of opening up the Stalybridge Celtic site to much wider community use.”

Mr Gorski, chairman and majority shareholder, added: “It is true that I have had meetings with the Leader, Steven and MP Jonathan Reynolds and, while I believe they are hugely exciting for the town as a whole, I am not in a position to comment further at the present time.”
