ST PETER’S, Denton CC and Staly Vegas are joint top of the Stalybridge Snooker League which is entering the business end of the campaign.
The three teams are each tied with 44 points with four of the 20 fixtures to complete.
In the whist section, sponsored by Zeros Bar, Stalybridge, Mossley B have amassed 24 points to open a three-point lead at the top from Denton CC and St Peter’s who are joint second.
At the end of week 13, Denton CC topped the snooker league with 37 points with Mossley B second on 36.
In the whist league, there were wins for Denton CC , Mossley B and Staly Vegas which left Mossley B top with 20 points and Denton CC two points behind with a game in hand.
Week 14 produced a 4-1 win for Hyde Club against Mossley B and 3-1 victories for Stalybridge Labour against St Peter’s and Staly Vegas versus Denton CC.
Denton remained leaders with 37 points, one ahead of Mossley B and Staly Vegas.
In the whist league, there were wins for Denton CC, St Peter’s and Hyde Club. The joint leaders were Mossley B and Denton with St Peter’s right behind them.
Week 15 was the last week before the end of the third quarter of the season.
Staly Vegas and Stalybridge Labour both had 4-1 victories against Hyde Club and Denton CC respectively while Mossley B beat St Peter’s 3-2.
Staly Vegas topped the snooker league but only three points separated the top five clubs.
In the whist, there were wins for Mossley B, Stalybridge Labour and Hyde Club.
Mossley B became outright leaders with 22 points, but only four points separated the top three teams.
The league held its third management meeting when 19 handicaps were reviewed and these handicaps will hold until the end of the league season.
The individual snooker and billiards knockouts were drawn to start once the league has finished. The darts league was also launched.
Week 16 saw the rearranged match between St Peter’s and Denton CC on the Wednesday before they met again the next night in a scheduled fixture.
There were contrasting fortunes, a 4-1 win for St Peter’s and 3-2 victory for Denton CC.
In the other matches, Stalybridge Labour and Staly Vegas each won 3-2 against Hyde Club and Mossley B respectively.
These results left St Peter’s, Denton CC and Staly Vegas all tied on 44 points with four games to play.
In the whist league, there were wins for St Peter’s, Mossley B and Hyde Club, while St Peter’s and Denton CC played out a draw.
The placings are now Mossley B first with 24 points with Denton and St Peter’s tied in second place on 21 points.
