LOCALS are encouraged to show their love for Ashton at a special event on Saturday, March 12.
The Love Ashton event, funded through the Welcome Back Fund, aims to attract people back into town centres following the covid-19 pandemic. The event is supported by Ashton Town Team and Tameside Markets.
There will be characters from Mossley’s No Eyed Theatre on the Market Ground themed to Alice In Wonderland, and a martial arts demonstration from Sitsiam Camp from Stalybridge.
Tameside Air Cadets will provide some rousing music from their band, and children will be able to go ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’ for the Alice In Wonderland character trail to find Disney’s character cutouts in shops around the town centre to win a prize.
There will also be Laurel and Hardy who’ll be causing mischief around the market.
The Town Team will host their popular prize Tombola and will be joined by the infamous Black Knight himself.
