Mossley Hollins crowned cross-county champions

MOSSLEY Hollins High School ran away with the overall title at the Tameside Schools’ Cross-Country Championships.

It is believed to be Mossley Hollins’ first-ever success in the event which was held at East Cheshire Harriers’ Richmond Street home.

The performance of their six teams, involving Year 7-11, resulted in them being crowned Tameside champions.

“This is an absolutely outstanding achievement, and every pupil should be congratulated for their involvement and contribution,” explained sports teacher Andy Doodson.

Keano Wassall was the star individual, winning the Year 10/11 race. He is in Year 10 and competed against students from 14 schools.

Other standout performers were: Leo Moreland (4th), Ruby Johnson (6th), Alex Savario (6th), Lucia Favario (9th), Poppy Evans (12th), Noah Lucas (12th), Oliver Loughman (12th), Ava Hanson (12th), Evie Hewitt (13th), Richie Dodd (16th), Henry Wood (16th), Holly Dewsnap (18th), Brian Fannon (20th), Noah Brooks (21st), Finn Latham (23rd).

All finishers in the top 20 will be eligible to represent Tameside in the forthcoming Greater Manchester Cross-Country Championships.
