FESTIVE fundraisers topped all targets with a five-figure sum being donated at the Rotary Club’s annual running of Santa sleighs.
The Dukinfield and Stalybridge, Tameside and Hyde branches all toured with children and parents turning out on the streets, sometimes in awful weather.
And the totals have eclipsed all hopes, with almost £20,000 being raised in total.
The Dukinfield and Stalybridge branch topped £10,000 by itself once Gift Aid was included with the £8,586 collected – some £900 more than in 2020.

That total delighted members, who will use the money to the running of this year’s sleigh, as well as assisting with other charity work it is involved in.
Tameside raised £8,000, which will be given to causes through its disbursement committee, which will look through applications for donations.

Hyde used an online fundraising scheme to add to any money collected either on the street or in stores.
“Collecting cash has become restricted,” they said as the fund contributed £175 to its grand total, which will be donated to Willow Wood Hospice, Oakdale School, Tameside Young Carers and other local projects.
