A KIND-HEARTED six-year-old certainly hit the sweet spot as he raised hundreds of pounds for charity.
Freddie Scott leapt into action after hearing how the son of a family friend was living with leukaemia.
And after going through different options, it was decided that for a donation he would make Santa Sweet cones, Elf Sweet cones, reindeer hot chocolate and reindeer food bags in the run up to Christmas.
Little did he know it would prove so popular he would end up making more than 300 cones, raising a huge £500.50 for MacMillan.
Proud mum Jenny said: “Freddie overheard myself and my partner talking about this and became worried that if the child was still in hospital at Christmas, Father Christmas might not know and might not bring him any presents.
“With this in mind, Freddie wanted to do something to raise money so he could buy him a Christmas present.
“We put the idea out on social media and also to his school teachers, our neighbours, families and friends.
“Not expecting to get many orders we purchased a ‘few bits’ that we would need. We then had orders coming in from everywhere.
“We had a giant sweet hamper donated to us that we used as a raffle for £2 a ticket and had to keep ordering more stock for our cones!
“We honestly cannot believe how generous people have been. I have received so many messages from people saying how proud they are of Freddie and how thoughtful he is.”
As well as raising the money, Freddie and his mother, from Ashton, will buy some gifts for the 12-year-old.
Jenny added: “He is a big Manchester City fan, so we are going to get a voucher which he can treat himself with once he is feeling up to it.
“Then we are heading to Smyths toy shop for a few little items.”
Freddie’s efforts were praised by local councillor Vimal Choksi, who said: “I am extremely proud of his kind gesture and this is what we exactly need in today’s world.
“More than anything, it’s the thought that counts.”
