British Heart Foundation calls for donation help

By Aimee McKenna

THE British Heart Foundation shop in Ashton is offering free pickups to help people donate their pre-loved items as they get back on track after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Marie Knowles, manager of the shop on Warrington Street, is asking for both men and women’s clothing of all sizes as well as accessories to go with them, and also household items including ornaments, bedding music and entertainment.

Pickups are available for donations every Friday or items are welcomed through the door at the shop, which is open seven days a week.

Marie said: “This time last year we were closed and missed out on at least three months’ worth of donations which has impacted us.

“We know sustainability is something we should all be getting behind so I am hopeful people will get behind us and donate.”

The British Heart Foundation can also gift aid the donated items if the person donating is a taxpayer, and this will then increase the sale of the item by 25 per cent.

The sale of items at the shops helps the charity fund medical research related to heart and circulatory diseases.
