HYDE found itself invaded by dragons, giants and hundreds of lanterns as the borough’s Christmas celebrations got underway.
The town was the venue for Tameside’s main event on Saturday, November 20, with more to come in individual towns.
After a Christmas market saw Santa joined by Draco the Dragon, which was made out of all kinds of household objects by Phantasmagoria, Joe the Giant took to the streets as the parade lit up the area.
After dazzling creations were displayed, the switch was then thrown to turn on the festive illuminations.
As December 25 draws closer, many more lights switch-ons are planned, casting Tameside’s towns in a completely different light.
