A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl has received recognition for her fundraising efforts for St John’s Ambulance.
Paige Thomas has so far sold more than £400 worth of resin keyrings after coming up with the idea over the school holidays.
Now after making more than 150, the ‘local hero’ has been given a Citizen’s Award by Denton and Reddish MP Andrew Gwynne.
Paige was nominated for the award by her mum, Donna, and is one of more than 75 people awarded certificates for going above and beyond to help their community.
In her nomination, she says: “Paige is a completely selfless little girl who only ever thinks of others, and I am bursting with pride at the lovely lady she is turning in to.”
Mr Gwynne presented the award alongside Paige’s family at St George’s Church on Windmill Lane in Dane Bank, where she attends the local Brownies.
And he said: “Paige is a remarkable girl and is so deserving of this certificate.
“Shee has raised an incredible amount of money and it is thanks to people like her that St John’s Ambulance are able to carry out their vital work.
“She is truly inspirational – well done Paige!”
