Special service to remember those affected by the pandemic

ST Lawrence Church in Denton will host a special service to remember those affected by the pandemic.

The service on Sunday, November 21 at 10.30am, is a joint service arranged between St Lawrence and St Anne’s, and both churches will be open in the 3 upcoming days beforehand for people to come and add the names of loved ones to our memorial display and quietly pray.

A spokesperson for the parish told The Correspondent “Covid-19 has had a huge impact on the world’s population. Many families and friends have lost loved ones during the pandemic. We are welcoming you to join us to commemorate and remember everyone who had been affected by Covid-19 at our special memorial service to be held at St Lawrence’s church, Town Lane, Denton.

If you are unable to join the service, you are welcome to come into church to light a candle and place the name of your loved one on a special memorial banner on the days leading up to the service. “

The main memorial service takes place at St Lawrence’s  and is expected to be attended by dignitaries including the Mayor of Tameside, MP Andrew Gwynne and representatives of the health and hospital services.

Prior to this event St Lawrences’ church (Town Lane) will be open:

Thursday 18th November (3pm – 7pm)

Friday 19th November (3pm-7pm)

Saturday 20th November (12noon – 4pm)

 

And St Anne’s church (St Anne’s Road), Denton will be open:

Thursday 18th November 5pm – 7pm)

Friday 19th November (5pm-7pm)

Saturday 20th November (12noon – 4pm)
