CARRBROOK’S community came out in force to soak up a fun day at the area’s garden.
Sunday, September 12 saw the gates at the YouCan facility on Crowswood Drive thrown open so the hard work that had been put in to turn around what was an patch of waste ground could be showed off.
As well as being able to sit and mingle, people could also partake in a pig race, a tombola, raffle and buy cards.
For the kids, there was also a bouncy castle and even characters, courtesy of Happy Box Mascots.
And the event was a success, as dozens of people turned up and raised money for the garden’s upkeep.
The garden has been made using a number of different things, including a former dancefloor, one cabin being lifted and turned 90 degrees and a whole lot of desire, effort and hard work over more than a year.
But a children’s area, or phase four as it is dubbed, is already on the agenda for one part of the site.
It is also being put to use with the neighbouring Carrbrook Community Hub holding a number of activities there.
Tea and toast sessions on Monday and Wednesday are there, weather permitting, while armchair exercise and tai chi classes have also moved to the new space.
