Garden a fitting tribute

A MEMORIAL garden is the fitting tribute to a ‘very, very special lady’.

The family of Pauline Cotterill joined Audenshaw councillors Oliver Ryan, Teresa Smith and Charlotte Martin, as well as MP Andrew Gwynne, at the unveiling at Ryecroft Hall.

Dozens of people were in attendance to see the Pauline Cotterill Gardens opened, along with a plaque honouring the former treasurer of Ryecroft Hall Community Association.

The August 22 event accompanied the second Band In the Park, which saw St John’s Droylsden brass band play several tunes in the sun.

And speaking before the music started, Cllr Smith paid tribute to the work Pauline did, with her described as an ‘amazing dynamo.’

She said: “Pauline was so kind and so charitable. She can never be replaced. She was a very special person.

“This is a special garden for a very, very special lady.”

  1. The gardens were funded by the Community Association in loving memory of our fantastic treasurer and our Management Committee volunteers helped with the planting and they will also be maintaining them.
