It’s a big thank you from Stalybridge

STALYBRIDGE MP Jonathan Reynolds joined in the fun by dancing around a maypole as the town said ‘thank you’ to the NHS.

The Big Party on Sunday, August 22 was organised so the town could show its appreciation for the role the health service played during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hundreds of people turned up to Cheetham Park, where Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Janet Cooper, gave a speech detailing her thanks.

And Mr Reynolds joined in the main showpiece as he and others danced around the maypole.

The Big Party, organised by Stalybridge Festival Committee, saw several of the town’s groups come together with stalls.

Among them were Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club, Stalybridge WI, Scouts, members of Carrbrook’s Community Garden and Friends of Stalybridge War Memorial.

And perhaps the main event of the day was the hotly-contested dog show.
