Helping pupils become word perfect

TAMESIDE Rotary presented 61 pupils in Year 6 at Greenfield Academy, Hyde, with a dictionary at their school assembly.

Each dictionary given had been personalised and signed by Rotary president Angela Robbins.

It was the 14th school in Tameside to have been included in Rotary’s Dictionary 4 Life project during the last few years.

By encouraging the intelligent and self-guided use of dictionaries, learners become more independent. The dictionaries are especially written for the Year 6 age group.

As pupils move on to secondary schools, Rotary hope they find their dictionaries useful and keep them for life.

Tameside Rotary’s Dictionary 4 Life co-ordinator Joyce Howarth MBE said:

“We wish them all an enjoyable and happy new era of their education.”
