TWO Tameside-based coaches have helped swell Team GB’s medal haul at Tokyo 2020.
Former Olympians Michael Harvey and Martin Stamper have been in the thick of the taekwondo action in Japan.
Harvey from Mottram, who was just 18 when he competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, was in the corner for Lauren Williams and Bianca Walkden.

And Denton based GB Taekwondo colleague, Martin Stamper, who fought at London 2012, was charged with masterminding the Games campaigns of Jade Jones and Bradly Sinden.

Welsh star Williams claimed silver in the -67kg weight division while three-time world heavyweight champion, Walkden, took a second successive Olympic bronze at +67kg.
While double Olympic champion Jones suffered a first round exit, world title holder Sinden took silver at -68kg with gold snatched from his grasp by Uzbekistan’s Ulugbek Rashitov in the closing seconds.
