THE Luncheon Club, which has operated at Victoria Park Community Centre, Denton, for the last decade, is looking to resume in September after an 18-month Covid-19 enforced break.
But organiser Councillor Denise Ward wants to gauge public opinion before it is set in stone.
“There are still people who are frightened to go out which is why I would like to get a feel to see if they would attend,” she explained.
Between 35 and 55 predominantly elderly people met on the last Thursday of the month until the first national lockdown in March 2020.
The cost is £3.50 for a two-course meal along with tea, coffee, bingo and a raffle.
Cllr Ward added that some of the groups which use the community centre have decided not to resume meetings for the foreseeable future.
Luncheon Club members can let Cllr Ward know their views about reopening by emailing her at denise.ward@tameside.gov.uk or telephoning 0161 336 6121.
Please could you tell me whether your lunch club has reopened in Victoria Park. I have a friend who has been recently widowed & I think he would benefit from going to a lunch club occasionally .
Thanks
