The car’s the star in Tameside

THE Tame Valley Vintage Classic Car Club (TVVCCC) roared back into Hyde Civic Square on Saturday, June 12 as members got together to display their pride and joys, albeit socially distanced.

The event has been a staple of the town centre for many years although the fallout of the pandemic had put the brakes on more recent attempts.

But under crystal clear skies, the cars proved hotter than the sunshine as eager enthusiasts and curious passers-by couldn’t help but stop to admire them.

And Civic Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Janet Cooper and her consort Denis Fitzpatrick were the special guests with the difficult choice of picking the best one.

Cllr Cooper said: “Hyde is a fabulous place, and it is great to see so many people out and about supporting this event and there’s some lovely cars too.“I really liked the little police car, but I did have a soft spot for the MG as I used to have one, but I’m very happy to see such a strong turnout.

“There are lots of local traders in Hyde who have been here for years. They have supported us throughout the pandemic, and we are now out to support them.”
